Know Your History
KNOW YOUR HISTORY is an Initiative, a non-governmental organization that works to popularize history as a subject in our schools and families through a broad spectrum of activities. National History Competition also known as Know Your History, reveals to our younger generation, much of Nigeria’s very rich history. More so, it makes history come alive for Nigeria's youths and adults by engaging them in the discovery of the historic, cultural and social experiences of the past.
KYH is open to all students in arts, commercial, sciences technical and social science classes.
Our History
Know Your History (KYH), a non-profit education organization in Nigeria was established in 2010. KYH offers year-long programmes that engage junior and high-school students in Nigeria annually in conducting quiz competitions on historical topics of interest emanating from the annual theme and other academically rewarding exercises. These students enter into contests at the state/zonal/regional levels, where the champions have the opportunity to advance to the National Contest which is also an award event. KYH, among other things seeks to improve the quality of history education by providing professional development opportunities and curriculum materials for educators. KYH seeks sponsorship and desires to partner with interested organisations in order to advance knowledge in all ramification.
About The Coordinator
James Onimisi, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a Combined Honours degree in History and Political Science has had opportunities of experience in The Guardian Newspapers Nig. Ltd. as a reporter (NYSC), Ciel Communications where he served briefly as an Advert Coordinator and Dansol Educational Organisation Lagos, where he acquired a lot of experience in teaching, administration, Information/Communication Technology and event planning.
He was a Quiz Master of Africa Independent Television's Wits and Chances and the CNN Student Bureau Coordinator of Dansol High School. He created and was since 2004 to 2016 the manager of Information and Communication Technology Unit of Dansol Educational Organization, where he oversaw the production of the organization's newsletters, brochures, Information books, yearbooks, computer training and maintenance, public/media relations, website and internet facility management, among others.
An experienced teacher of History, Government, Social Studies and Computer, his contributions to the phenomenal growth and development of his employers has made him an asset. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, and did Msc. Course work in Sociology and MBA programme in Information Technology.
